A THOUSAND MILES OF IRONY

Once upon a thousand miles When emotions are cloaked in deceitful smiles Tongues coated with smothering lies Drunkenness and emptiness in it time flies Tombs on dump sites heard the infant cries Words and portions of the dark sages Seeking wisdom and power of the ages Destroying humanity with their philosophical pages A man can only be born in two stages In which the aftermath is wages A thousand miles far away A vision of hell in its making In the likes of Sodom and Gomorrah Her pool is filled with the blood of saints Jezebel and Judas all in one fold If it was a thousand miles far or near It is the same, living in fear Her water is the widow’s tears Agony and pain for those who dare A thousand miles, a story of fear What you will never do without Will forever be your downfall What you can never give out Will be what you will never get You only die when you are as good as dead

THE PLAY

Today is the yam festivals day Drinking and merrying have its way The god of harvest has blessed the barns There is no paint used but clay Build more houses and marry more wives That seems like a good plan Here comes the maidens running Their captors laughing and smiling Hear the voices of widows wailing Behold, mighty warriors has fallen Orphans wandering around and crying Cut! Shouted the director Let us give a reason for their position Put more emotion in those bodies Let me see pure energy flowing Let the play look its worth Let us it another shot, ACTION!

The Dead are the victors!

"we thought we are free, we thought the war is over not knowing there are a lot to die for ...... "     wyd Let the earth tell the tales of the men who gave their lives for the betterment of the society and the Struggles and sufferings of the women who through there death we all have freedom. Different tales of the youth revolts and revolution for the cause they think is right. All in the name of freedom, so many people sacrificed their lives just to secure a better future. Let their name forever remain in history, let lips of the women sing of their bravery, let the fetus kick to the tune of the song of their unselfish sacrifice. Let a gourd be passed among the men, let their swords be in their scabbard and let them wear their guts to identify with the souls of their brothers lost in battle.

LIVING OUT OF DEPRESSION By ADEPOJU FELIX

There is a saying that you don’t always appreciate what you have until you lose it, the same is applicable to our life. It can be established that people who suffer from depression as a result of neglect or rejection fail to appreciate themselves. It all starts from you loving someone more than you can imagine then it gets to the point of you wanting to live the life of that person you envy or love. Of course we are all human, so delicate and vulnerable, we tend to blindfold our eyes to those who truly love us while we chase after those who want little or nothing to do with us. Depression also, is a factor of disappointment i.e. when you lose all you have or when someone did something you can’t imagine them doing to you. It takes a depressed soul to identify with another depressed soul because they share the same bitterness; it also takes a depressed mind to write a depressed note because it...
